Ray joined Pioneer as a Research Associate in March 1996. In September 2000, he became Senior Research Associate and has been responsible for coordination and conducting multi-crop, yield, and nursery experiments covering a wide geography in Alberta. In 2004, Ray accepted the position of Field Sales Agronomist and was responsible for providing agronomic service education and Pioneer® brand product information to Pioneer Hi-Bred customers and sales professionals in Alberta. After a couple of years as an account manager Ray transitioned back to his role as an agronomist in the summer of 2009. Ray thoroughly enjoys the "teaching" aspect of agronomy and helpling farmers get the most out of every acre. Ray is a graduate of University of Alberta where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He is also a CCA member.
Tom recently trasitioned into his new role as CORN AND SILAGE SPECIALIST for Pioneer Hi-Bred Ltd. His focus is on new corn market development in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and BC. Since 1997, Tom has been very involved in the growth and adaptation of corn as a new crop in Central and Northern Alberta, first as a sales representative, then as a District Sales Manager with Pioneer Hi-Bred. Prior to his involvement with Pioneer, Tom farmed, fed cattle, and traded commodities in Southern Alberta. He has a Management Degree in Ag. Management and Economics from the University of Lethbridge and is a CCA member.
Pioneer Hi-Bred has recently launched two disease resistant traits in canola - sclerotinia resistance and clubroot resistance. In the future, many more Pioneer® brand canola hybrids will carry these traits. At Pioneer Hi-Bred, our goal is to rapidly create seed products with ever-greater total economic value. Pioneer Hi-Bred Agronomist, Ray Gauthier will discuss the benefits and advantages to growing these hybrids on your farm next spring.
Is there a place for corn on my farm? The corn production area of Western Canada is continueing to grow outside the traditional area of the Red River Valley in Manitoba. With the development of lower heat unit corn, and a developing ethanol market, the potential for grain corn has expanded. Tom will discuss the potential oppotunities corn has for grain and silage in Alberta and Saskatchewan. He will stress the importance of choosing the right hybrid and discuss the agronomic support Pioneer Hi-Bred has to offer.
